Orix Buffaloes outfielder Takahiro Okada drove home the go-ahead run in the 11th inning as Japan scraped past France 4-3 in a four-nation tournament on Sunday. Okada singled to right field with one out and a runner on third in the top of the 11th and Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters right-hander Yusuke Uemura pitched four innings of shutout relief, helping Japan manager Senichi Hoshino to his second win in his international debut. Japan had its second extra-inning game in as many days after squandering leads of 1-0 and 3-2 against winless France in the rehearsal tournament for next year's Beijing Olympics.
