Homare Sawa and Shinobu Ohno scored goals in the first half Sunday as Japan coasted to a 5-0 win over Thailand in a qualifier for the women's soccer tournament at the Beijing Olympics. Japan, which had already secured a berth in next summer's Olympics, improved to 5-0 with one draw in qualifying matches. Miyuki Yanagita and Yuki Nagasato also scored in the first half as the hosts built up a commanding 4-0 lead. Mizuho Sakaguchi scored the only goal after the break to complete the scoring for Japan. Thailand dropped to 2-3 with one draw.
