Teikyo left-hander Tatsuya Kakigahara hit a tiebreaking single and threw 8 1/3 scoreless innings, leading the Tokyo school to a 7-1 rout of Komadai Iwamizawa in the first round of the National High School Baseball Championship on Friday. Two-time tournament winner Teikyo broke open a tie game with a five-run fourth inning and Kakigahara held the Hokkaido school to four hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts after starter Atori Ota gave up a run in two-thirds of an inning. In other first-round action at Koshien Stadium, Kamimura Gakuen first baseman Keito Kohara went 3-for-5 with a solo homer and three RBIs as the Kagoshima school rallied to beat Konko Osaka 6-3 in a game between tournament debutants.
