The Seattle Mariners' Triple-A affiliate in Tacoma has released right-hander Tomokazu Ohka, Mariners baseball information director Tim Hevly said Tuesday. Ohka was notified of his release last Saturday, three days after he surrendered eight runs in 5 1/3 innings. He was 0-3 with a 10.32 ERA in four starts for the Rainiers. The 31-year-old earned his 50th major league win on April 29 when he was with the Toronto Blue Jays, who released him in June after he continued to struggle on the mound. He then signed minor league contracts with the St. Louis Cardinals in June and the Mariners in July, but failed in his attempts to return to a major league mound.
