The Japan All-Stars defeated Ashland High School 28-21 in the 10th Pacific Rim Bowl on Friday in Ashland, Ore. Shunsuke Wada scored the decisive touchdown, a 77-yard touchdown reception from Shoma Taniguchi of Ritsumeikan Uji, midway through the fourth quarter, helping Japan win for the fourth straight time in the exhibition series. The first contest between the Japan All-Stars and AHS was played in 1988. Wada, a senior at Kwansei Gakuin, had four catches for 102 yards and three touchdowns, including two in the second quarter. Japan led 21-14 at halftime. Running back Shun Kitagawa of Ritsumeikan Uji led Japan with 70 rushing yards on seven carries. Masaki Matsubara also scored a touchdown, hauling in a 29-yard TD pass from his Kwansei Gakuin teammate Yusuke Sagehari with 32 seconds to go in the first half.
