Former Yokohama FC striker Alemao died in a car accident on Sunday, the local newspaper Globo reported in its online edition. He was 23. Alemao led Yokohama FC to promotion to the J. League first division last season by scoring 18 goals in 24 matches. He joined Brazilian club Palmeiras this year after leaving the Japanese club and was out of action with a knee injury when the crash occurred.
