HANOI, Vietnam — Another storm is brewing in Vietnam — and it's got nothing to do with Typhoon Toraji which lashed parts of the country this week.
At the start of the hot and sticky typhoon season, Ivica Osim is feeling particularly prickly over the amount of preparation time available for the Asian Cup finals, and the coach didn't mince his words when asked whether Japan is peaking at the right time ahead of Monday's Group B opener against Qatar.
"What do you think?" said Osim on Friday. "We just had some J.League games on (June) 30th. For many months, there were two games a week so that should have an impact on the condition of the players.
