Ryan Glynn pitched one-run ball over eight innings Sunday as the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters beat the Hanshin Tigers 3-1 to extend their winning streak to five games.

Glynn (6-3) struck out nine and allowed six hits, including a third-inning homer by Toshihiro Noguchi, with three walks in interleague play at Koshien Stadium.

Nippon Ham took a 2-0 lead on an RBI double by Atsunori Inaba in the first and a sacrifice fly by Naoto Inada in the second. Shinji Takahashi also hit a sacrifice fly to make it 3-1 in the fifth.

BayStars 5, Buffaloes 4

At Yokohama Stadium, Takahiro Saeki went 4-for-4 with a solo homer, falling just a triple shy of hitting for the cycle, as Yokohama held off Orix.

Saeki doubled in a three-run first inning and homered in a two-run third off Hidetaka Kawagoe (3-5) before adding a single and a double in his next two at-bats.

Tuffy Rhodes hit a two-run homer in the fourth and RBI singles from Shinji Shimoyama and Keiji Obiki in the eighth pulled Orix within a run, but Marc Kroon closed out the ninth for Yokohama, earning his 15th save. Takeharu Kato (2-3) won in relief.
