announced Friday that Kuwait will replace Saudi Arabia to participate in the FIBA Asia Championship 2007 for Men in Tokushima. The July 28-Aug. 5 tournament is the Beijing Olympics qualifier for Asia and Kuwait has been placed in Group B, the same group with host Japan, in the first round. Saudi Arabia withdrew from the 16-nation tournament earlier this month, and Kuwait got the berth to fill one of the three spots given to the Gulf region. The winner of the championship will be granted a sole spot for the Beijing Games, and if host China wins, the second-place team will get it.
