Yuki Saito allowed just one run and two hits in five innings and got plenty of backing as Waseda University romped 10-1 over Soka University in the semifinals of the national collegiate baseball championship on Saturday. Waseda booked a berth in the final and will meet Tokai University on Sunday in a bid to win its first championship in 33 years. It is the first time Waseda has reached the final since finishing runner-up at the 2002 tournament. Saito, who became a national idol last summer when he led Waseda Jitsugyo to the national high school championship title, made his first start of the tournament and Waseda scored six runs to take a comfortable lead in the first inning.
