Toshimitsu Kawachi, the bj-league commissioner, announced Monday the Fukuoka expansion club will be known as the Rizing Fukuoka. The squad joins the league next fall along with the Okinawa-based Ryukyu Golden Kings, increasing the league's total to 10 teams.
On May 1, the Fukuoka Pro Basketball Club Co. was officially established. The team's official Web site, rizing-fukuoka.com, will be launched in June. The Fukuoka BB Boys was the team's originally announced nickname last November.
