Takahiro Arai hit a three-run homer and Soichiro Amaya had a two-run blast for his career-first home run as the Hiroshima Carp beat the Hanshin Tigers 8-4 in the Central League on Saturday.

Hanshin went up 1-0 in the first inning before Arai's shot to the stands in left in the bottom half and Amaya, in his sixth year in pro baseball, keyed a five-run fifth with a go-ahead drive to right at Hiroshima Stadium.

Knuckleballer Jared Fernandez (1-1) pitched out of the bullpen, allowing three hits in four scoreless innings for his first win in Japan. Naohisa Sugiyama (0-2) was rocked for eight runs in 4 2/3 innings.
