The Japan High School Baseball Federation decided Friday to conduct a survey of all federation member schools to see if they have violated amateur baseball rules.

The decision follows the recent revelation that Iwate Prefecture-based Sendai Kitakami paid tuition for some of its baseball players based on their performance in junior high school tournaments -- an act prohibited in order to prevent illegitimate scouting activities. If any violations are discovered, the federation will require relevant schools to submit detailed reports by May 2 and to stop misconduct immediately.
