The Colorado Rockies placed second baseman Kazuo Matsui on a 15-day disabled list due to a lower back problem shortly before their game Sunday at the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Matsui suffered lower back spasms while running on the basepaths during a game against Arizona on Saturday, when he was replaced in the fifth inning after producing two hits for his fourth multi-hit performance of the season.
