Tokoha Gakuen Kikugawa catcher Ryoya Ishioka doubled in the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning as the Shizuoka Prefecture school downed tournament favorite Osaka Toin 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the National High School Invitational Tournament on Saturday.

Osaka Toin ace and slugger Sho Nakata, who has been drawing serious attention from pro scouts, was held hitless by left-hander Kenjiro Tanaka in his three at-bats. On the mound, Nakata allowed two runs and seven hits in a complete-game effort.

In Saturday's other quarterfinal game, Komamoto Kogyo beat Kochi's Muroto 5-3.
