Fernando Seguignol hit a go-ahead three-run homer Wednesday as the Nippon Ham Fighters edged the Orix Buffaloes 3-2 to pick up their first win of the season.

Tomoya Yagi (1-0) got the win after allowing two runs and four hits in 5 1/3 innings. Micheal Nakamura retired the side in order in the ninth to get the save.

In Fukuoka, Hiroki Kokubo broke a scoreless tie with a leadoff homer in a five-run fourth inning and Toshiya Sugiuchi threw a five-hit shutout as the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks beat the Rakuten Eagles 9-0. In Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture, Toshiaki Imae broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI bloop single in the top of the ninth as the Chiba Lotte Marines got their first win of the season, beating the Seibu Lions 3-1.

Yasuhiko Yabuta (1-0) picked up the win in relief.
