NISHINOMIYA, Hyogo Pref. (Kyodo) Sho Nakata threw seven shutout innings, but went 0-for-3 at the plate as tournament favorite Osaka Toin beat Nihon Bunri 7-0 on the opening day of the national high school invitational tournament Friday.

Nakata, by far the most closely watched player in the 12-day event with 71 homers in his high school baseball career, only allowed a sixth-inning single against the Fukuoka prefecture school. He struck out nine, walked four and hit three batters.
