Estonian rank-and-filer Baruto, who had to pull out of the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament due to a knee injury, is questionable for the upcoming Spring Grand Sumo Tournament, his stable elder Onoue indicated on Wednesday.

Baruto, who has been demoted to a No. 13 maegashira in the elite division, conducted a light workout the same day with some of the younger wrestlers in his stable with his left knee wrapped in a support.

"I want to wrestle at the meet but I won't know if I can until right before the start," Baruto said.

Onoue said, "I'll decide whether Baruto will wrestle or not on Thursday." The 15-day meet kicks off at Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium on Sunday.
