Toyama Grouses guard Takanori Goya is the Circle K Sunkus Player of the Week, the bj-league announced Tuesday.
The 23-year-old Okinawan had 15 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals in Saturday's game against the Tokyo Apache. He scored 11 points, dished out five assists and added three rebounds, three steals and a blocked shot a day later as the Grouses completed a weekend sweep.
In related news, the league awarded Oita HeatDevils swingman Mikey Marshall its February MVP accolade. Marshall, a former Texas Tech player under legendary college coach Bob Knight, scored in double digits in six of his team's eight games this month.
He ended the months with three stellar shooting games: 8-for-11, 8-for-12 and 8-for-15 from 2-point range. Marshall, one of the league's top all-around players, also had 64 rebounds, 34 assists, eight steals and six blocks in February for the HeatDevils (17-13), who are tied for third in the league. Marshall is averaging 14.6 points per game.
