Right-hander Shinji Mori has signed a minor league contract with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays with an invitation to major league spring training, the club said Monday.

The Devil Rays made room on the 40-man roster for right-handed reliever Scott Dohmann, who signed a one-year major league contract with the club the same day, by releasing Mori, and then signed the minor league deal with the 32-year-old Japanese.

Mori spent all of last season rehabbing a torn labrum in his pitching shoulder, an injury he suffered during spring training.

He signed a two-year major league deal with the Devil Rays in January 2006 after nine seasons with the Seibu Lions.

Dohmann split 2006 between the Colorado Rockies and Kansas City Royals, pitching in a career-high 48 games. He had a combined record of 2-4 with one save and a 7.08 ERA.
