ATLANTA -- Japanese goaltender Yutaka Fukufuji made his first start in the NHL on Tuesday but conceded three goals and was taken off in the second period of the Los Angeles Kings' 6-2 defeat to the Atlanta Thrashers.
Fukufuji was handed his first start after becoming the first Japanese to play in the NHL as a substitute in the Kings' 6-5 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night.
But the 24-year-old allowed goals from Shane Hnidy and Marian Hossa as Atlanta came from a goal behind in the first period.
