The Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters notified the Yomiuri Giants on Wednesday of their decision not to receive a player as compensation for losing free agent infielder Michihiro Ogasawara to the Central League team.

Nippon Ham, instead, has chosen to receive 456 million yen, 120 percent worth of Ogasawara's 2006 salary, from Yomiuri, over the other option of picking a player who was not on a list of 28 players Yomiuri protected and receiving 304 million yen, or 80 percent of his salary from last season.

Ogasawara led the Pacific League with 32 homers and 100 RBIs in 2006.
