The Yokohama BayStars will acquire veteran left-hander Kimiyasu Kudo from the Yomiuri Giants as compensation for losing free agent Ken Kadokura to their Central League rivals last month, the two clubs said Tuesday.

Yokohama picked the 43-year-old Kudo, who has compiled a 215-129 record with three saves and a 3.38 ERA in a pro career spanning 25 years, as he had not been on Yomiuri's protected list of 28 players.

"We determined that the acquisition of Kudo would be an asset for the team," Yokohama club president Kuniaki Sasaki said.
