Daiji Yamada scored a game-high 19 points as the Toyota Alvark thumped the Aisin Sea Horses 79-45 in the men's basketball final to claim their first national championship title on Monday.

Toyota, whose team was established in 1948, captured its first national crown in its fourth appearance in the final. The Alvark took a 35-25 lead by halftime and went on a 24-0 run at one stage after the break at Yoyogi National Gymnasium, closing down Aisin's offense with solid defensive play from Satoru Furuta and Satoshi Miyata.

Michael Takahashi had 10 points with six rebounds and Furuta and Takehiko Orimo scored 13 and 12 points, respectively. Tomoo Amino and Kanetaka Takatsuji combined for 22 points for Aisin.

After the game, five players were announced to the all-tournament team: Ryota Sakurai of Toyota, Shinsuke Kashiwagi of Aisin, Takuya Kawamura of the OSG Phoenix, and twin brothers Joji and Kosuke Takeuchi, who play for Tokai University and Keio University, respectively.
