The Yakult Swallows have officially acquired the services of outfielder Aaron Guiel, who played for the New York Yankees in 2006.

The 34-year-old Guiel received a signing bonus of $250,000 (29.8 million yen) and will get an annual salary of $650,000 (77.4 million yen), with a club option for a second year.

Guiel hit 30 homer runs with Kansas City Royals' affiliate Triple-A Omaha in 2005 and appeared in the World Baseball Classic last year as a representative from Canada.

In 2006, Guiel joined the Yankees midseason and hit four homers in 44 games. He has a total of 35 home runs with a .246 in 307 major league appearances.
