Jubilo Iwata has released 33-year-old former Japan international Toshihiro Hattori, the J. League first-division club said on Wednesday.

Hattori, who joined Iwata in 1994 and represented his country in the 1998 and 2002 World Cups, is thought to be set for a move to second-division Tokyo Verdy.

The defensive midfielder helped Iwata win three league championships and scored 19 goals in 350 league appearances for the Shizuoka club.

He won 44 caps for the national team, scoring twice.
