Jerod Ward scored a game-high 31 points and Nile Murry added 25 to lead the visiting Toyama Grouses to an 81-70 win over the Oita HeatDevils in bj-league action on Sunday.
Oita's Andy Ellis had a 29-point performance. In Sendai, the 89ers defeated the Tokyo Apache 90-80. Michael Chappell, one of five 89ers in double figures, had 20 points, while Ryan Blackwell added 14 and cleared 14 rebounds.
Tokyo's Tony Jones and John Humphrey had 13 points apiece. Julius Ashby scored 21 points and Isaac Sojourner added 13 as the Takamatsu Five Arrows topped the visiting Niigata Albirex BB 71-68, completing their weekend sweep of the league leaders.
Nick Davis' 21 points led the Albirex. The host Osaka Evessa edged the Saitama Broncos 88-81 in overtime. Lynn Washington scored 27 and David Palmer poured in 20 in the win. For Saitama, Gordon James had a team-best 23 points and 20 rebounds and Taishiro Shimizu had 22 points. (The Japan Times)
