YOKOHAMA -- Japan can be the "anchor" of the Club World Cup for years to come, but a decision on whether a team from the host nation can take part is still up in the air, Sepp Blatter said Sunday.
The FIFA president said Japan, which hosted the event in 2005, would be a tough act to follow after the success of this year and it may be the best place for the fledgling tournament between the club champions of the six FIFA confederations as it continues to develop.
Blatter did confirm, though, that Mexico has thrown its hat into the ring for the 2008 competition.
