The host Saitama Broncos outlasted the Sendai 89ers 97-90 in double overtime Sunday in Kasukabe, Saitama Prefecture. Marcus Toney-El scored 23 points and Gordon James scored 22 for the Broncos, while Michael Chappell had 27 for the 89ers.
Elsewhere in Sunday's bj-league action, visiting Osaka Evessa topped the Oita HeatDevils 70-60. Evessa's Lynn Washington scored a game-best 20 points, and Chris Ayer's 15 led the HeatDevils.
Led by Reggie Warren's 19 points, five players scored in double figures as the Takamatsu Five Arrows coasted to a 92-68 win over the host Tokyo Apache. Michael Jackson had a team-high 17 points for Tokyo.
Niigata Albirex BB forward Matt Garrison had 31 points, nine rebounds and five assists to pace his team to a 98-61 home win over the Toyama Grouses, and four teammates also scored in double figures as the first-place squad improved to 12-2. Toyama's Nile Murry put 14 points on the board.
