Japan will face Mexico at home in March in the first leg of a playoff for a place at next year's Women's World Cup in China, soccer's world governing body FIFA said Friday.
The Asian Games silver medalists will host the first leg on March 10 and will travel to Mexico for the return leg to be played a week later.
Japan, which is aiming for a fifth straight World Cup appearance, missed out on qualifying directly after finishing fourth at Asian Cup qualifying. (Kyodo News)
