The Yokohama BayStars have traded outfielder Hitoshi Tamura for Fukuoka Softbank Hawks right-hander Hayato Terahara, the clubs announced Tuesday.

Tamura hit more than 30 home runs in 2004 and '05 but injuries limited the 29-year-old to just 39 appearances for the struggling Central League club this past season, during which he had eight homers and a .276 batting average.

The 23-year-old Terahara, who joined Softbank in 2002, picked up his first win in three years this season and went on to post a 3-7 record in the Pacific League.
