Chunichi Dragons owner Bungo Shirai said Thursday the Central League pennant winners will not break the bank to try and acquire free agent Michihiro Ogasawara.
The Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters want to keep the Pacific League's home run and RBI title winner in Sapporo while the Yomiuri Giants, along with Chunichi, have also expressed interest in the 33-year-old.
But Shirai indicated that Chunichi would pull out of the race for Ogasawara's signature if the asking price goes beyond the team's budget.
