Sadaharu Oh, who led Japan to victory as manager at the inaugural World Baseball Classic in March this year, was named the recipient of the Matsutaro Shoriki award Tuesday for his contributions to the development of Japanese baseball.

Oh, who currently skippers the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks, claimed the accolade for the fourth time in his career and first since receiving the award after piloting the Daiei Hawks to a Japan Series championship in 2003.

The 66-year-old was unanimously chosen by the selection committee to receive the award.
