Guard Yuta Tabuse was a third-round selection (35th overall) of the Bakersfield Jam in the NBA Developmental League's Draft on Thursday.
Tabuse, the first Japanese-born player to appear in the NBA (four games with the Phoenix Suns during the 2004-05 season), was in Los Angeles Clippers camp last fall, but was cut.
He played for the NBDL's Albuquerque Thunderbirds last season, averaging 6.5 points, 4.0 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game.
The 12-team NBDL begins its season on Nov. 24. Tabuse's club makes its season debut two days later against the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
