The MLB-NPB All-Star series organizer announced the 12 players chosen chosen by manager Katsuya Nomura of the NPB squad on Monday.
Those include Fukuoka Softbank Hawks left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada, Chiba Lotte Marines catcher Tomoya Satozaki and Yokohama BayStars infielder Shuichi Murata.
It also announced that pitcher Kyuji Fujikawa of the Hanshin Tigers, Akinori Iwamura of the Tokyo Yakult Swallows and Nobuhiko Matsunaka of the Hawks have withdrawn from playing in the series because of injuries.
The NPB will add six more players, which will be announced later. Meanwhile, Los Angeles Angels closer Francisco Rodriguez, New York Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran and Chicago White Sox outfielder Jarmaine Dye have been added onto the Major League squad, which completed its 27-man roster for the series with the announcement.
