The Tokyo Apache announced Friday that they have re-signed John Humphrey for the upcoming 2006-07 season.
Humphrey was the leading scorer in the bj-league's inaugural 2005-06 season, posting 23.2 points per game for the Apache.
The 188-cm guard was also second in the league in steals at 2.0. Humphrey formerly played for the Las Vegas Rattlers and Boston Frenzy of the ABA, and scored 65 points in one game for the Frenzy.
Humphrey also plays for the AND 1 Mixed Tape Tour team, on which he is known as "Helicopter" for his incredible leaping ability (up to 106 cm on vertical jumps).
The 26-year-old Humphrey won the NCAA slam dunk contest, when he was attending Middle Tennessee State.
