Yokohama BayStars closer Marc Kroon was removed from the active roster Tuesday after being diagnosed with inflammation in his left leg, team officials said.

Kroon injured his leg in a game against the Hiroshima Carp last Thursday and underwent an examination the same day at a Yokohama hospital, where doctors said he will require 10 days to recover.

It is the fastballer's first injury in his second season in Japan.

Kroon, who is 2-4 with 21 saves and a 3.27 ERA in 39 games this season, could be reactivated as early as Sept. 22, officials said.
