WBA minimumweight champion Yutaka Niida said Tuesday he will be out of action for at least three months because of a broken rib that has postponed this weekend's title defense.

Niida, who sustained the injury in training Saturday, said doctors have told him to rest completely for a month and stop fighting for the next three months.

On Sunday, Niida's gym announced the postponement of his title match against Japanese challenger Katsunari Takayama, which had been scheduled for Saturday at Tokyo's Korakuen Hall.
