SAITAMA -- Bob Elphinston, whose involvement in basketball dates to 1961, was appointed to the post of FIBA President for the 2006-10 term, the FIBA Central Board announced Tuesday.
Elphinston replaces Carl Men Ky Ching of China, the outgoing president. The FIBA World Congress also named its 20-member Central Board for the next term.
"Obviously I'm excited but very honored to be elected President of FIBA," said Elphinston, who served as the general manager of the Sydney Olympics 2000 Bid Company.
