Commonwealth champion and 100 meters world record holder Asafa Powell will compete at next month's Seiko Super track and field meet in Yokohama, organizers said Monday.

According to the Japan Association of Athletics Federations, it will be the first trip to Japan for the Jamaican, who will be competing against home favorite Shingo Suetsugu in the 100 at Nissan Stadium on Sept. 24.

Other athletes coming from abroad include pole-vault world record holder Yelena Isinbayeva of Russia, Swedish high jumper Stefan Holm and Norwegian javelin thrower Andreas Thorkildsen, all of whom won gold at the Athens Olympics.

Olympic hammer throw gold medalist Koji Murofushi will also compete in the event.
