MUNICH, Germany (AP The German Bundesliga season began less than five weeks after the World Cup final, with defending champion Bayern Munich defeating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 Friday night on goals by Roy Makaay and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Before a crowd of 69,000 at Allianz Arena, Bayern goalkeeper Oliver Kahn got a shutout in his 500th league game. Makaay, who hit a post just 30 seconds, beat Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller in the 24th minute and Schweinsteiger added a goal in the 55th. On Saturday, new captain Kasey Keller leads Borussia Moenchengladbach against Energie Cottbus.
