Sheets singled to left with one out and a runner on third to open the scoring, and Osamu Hamanaka tripled home Sheets and scored as the relay throw to third from second baseman Hitoshi Taneda went awry in a three-run first inning at Yokohama Stadium.
Igawa (9-7) held Yokohama to one run and five hits with a walk and five strikeouts.
