Athens Olympics over-100 kg gold medalist Keiji Suzuki will sit out the World Cup team championships in Paris on Sept. 16-17 due to a left shoulder injury, the All Japan Judo Federation said Tuesday.
"The injury was so bad that I couldn't do anything in last month's team camp in Kumamoto Prefecture. I've decided to skip the tournament and concentrate on rehabilitation," said Suzuki, who has been replaced by Takamasa Anai. Suzuki sustained the injury in an overseas camp about four months ago.
