European Champions League winner Barcelona has received a bye into the semifinals of this year's FIFA Club World Cup to be held in Japan in December, the Japan Football Association said Thursday.
The tournament, which features the club champions from the world's six confederations, will open Dec. 10 at Toyota Stadium in Aichi Prefecture and the final will be played Dec. 17 at Nissan Stadium in Yokohama, according to the schedule released by the JFA.
Barcelona will join the competition in a match scheduled for Dec. 14 at Yokohama following first-round matches at Toyota on the opening day and at Tokyo's National Stadium on Dec. 11.
