Tomoaki Kanemoto drove in three runs and Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi pitched six shutout innings as the Hanshin Tigers snapped the front-running Chunichi Dragons' five-game winning streak with a 7-2 victory on Friday.
Hanshin built a 4-0 lead against Kenshin Kawakami (10-2) on a second-inning solo homer by Takashi Toritani, a two-run single by Kanemoto in the third and a sacrifice fly from Kanemoto in the fifth in a matchup of the top two Central League teams at Osaka's Kyocera Dome.
Shimoyanagi (8-6) was not impressive, but won his third straight start, allowing two hits and five walks.
