Japan's opponent in a tuneup for the men's world basketball championship getting under way in August has been changed to Lebanon from Puerto Rico, the Japan Basketball Association said Tuesday.

With Puerto Rico unable to come to Japan partly because of players' unfavorable conditions, the host country for the Aug. 19-Sept. 3 event will play 2005 Asian championship runnerup Lebanon in the three-game series opening on July 19 at the White Ring in Nagano.

Both teams will meet again at Koshigaya Municipal Gymnasium in Saitama Prefecture two days later, with the final game scheduled to take place at Yoyogi National Gymnasium annex in Tokyo on July 22.
