Hiroki Kuroda scattered three singles in his second shutout of the season and Takahiro Arai broke a scoreless tie with a seventh-inning solo homer, leading the Hiroshima Carp to a 3-0 win over the Chunichi Dragons on Sunday.
Kuroda (6-6) struck out seven, walked one and retired the final 12 batters after allowing a leadoff single to Masahiko Morino in the sixth inning of Central League action at Nagoya Dome.
Arai homered leading off the seventh, and consecutive two-out RBI singles by Eishin Soyogi and Kenta Kurihara in the eighth off Luis Martinez (4-6) pushed Hiroshima's lead to three runs.
