Orix Buffaloes veteran infielder Kazuhiro Kiyohara was taken off the active roster Sunday, citing pain in his right thigh.

Team officials said Kiyohara hurt his thigh while running from first to third during a game against the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters at Skymark Stadium on Saturday. The 38-year-old slugger is scheduled to undergo a medical examination at a Kobe hospital on Monday.

It is the second time this season that Kiyohara has been removed from the active roster and third time he has been sidelined. He was previously placed on the inactive list with an injury to his inner thigh muscle on April 28.
