DORTMUND, Germany -- Zico said he will leave the post of Japan coach at ease with his conscience despite his team's disastrous World Cup exit on Thursday.
The Boys in Blue's 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Brazil signaled the end of Zico's reign as coach and triggered their first-round exit after losing their first Group F game 3-1 to Australia and drawing 0-0 with Croatia.
"My contract ends. I'm at ease with my conscience. I gave it my best shot," Zico told reporters.
