Jubilo Iwata said Thursday they have named former defender Adilson as manager, following the resignation of Masakuni Yamamoto, who took responsibility for his side's lackluster performance this season.
The 38-year-old Adilson, who played for Jubilo in 1997-99 and had coached Figueirense in his home country of Brazil since 2005, will try to lift the three-time overall J. League champions, currently in 11th place in the 18-team table on 16 points from 11 matches.
Adilson will come to Japan shortly to sign a formal contract, Jubilo said.
